Welcome

Sine Nomine Singers

Join us

We are always interested in hearing from singers who might want to join our team. You will need to be able to read music confidently. Prior experience of singing in a choir will also be helpful, as we often tackle challenging music. No formal audition is required, at present: just arrange to sit in on a few rehearsals and we’ll take it from there. Rehearsals are held in Bromley (TFL Zone 5) on most Tuesday evenings during school term times. Please get in touch using this email address (our contacts page is not yet up and running!) if you would like further information about concerts, or about joining.  singerssinenomine@gmail.com
Formed in 1994, the Sine Nomine Singers perform sacred and secular music from the 12th Century to the present day. Recent repertoire has spanned the centuries between Hildegard von Bingen to David Bednall. Members are drawn from South London, Kent and Sussex to sing in this high-quality chamber choir. We rehearse in Bromley, and perform many of our concerts at St. George’s Church, Bickley. However, we have also sung in a diverse range of venues, from Steinfeld Monastery (Germany), the Toomkirik (Tallinn, Estonia) and St. Paul’s Cathedral (London) to The Oval Tavern and Green Dragon pubs in Croydon!
The choir started under the direction of Stephen  Davies, and his son Jonny (pictured) is the current conductor. We sadly miss William Petter, who led the choir before his untimely death in 2016.
Here’s a live recording of  our singing In Manus Tuas by Thomas Tallis
Our conductor, Jonny, suggesting a solution to the tenors’ not being able to see him from the back row!
We’re really sorry, but for the obvious reasons we’re neither rehearsing for the time being, nor planning to hold a concert in the immediate future.
